ಚತುರ್ವಿಂಶಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ

ದೇವತಾನಾಂ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಭಗವಾನ್ ವೈ ಪಿತಾಮಹಃ |
ಪ್ರತ್ಯುವಾಚ ಸುಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತಾನ್ ಕೃತಾಂತ ಬಲಮೋಹಿತಾನ್ ||

ಸ|| ಸುಸಂತ್ರಸ್ತಾನ್ ಕೃತಾಂತ ಬಲಮೋಹಿತಾನ್ ದೇವತಾನಾಂ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಭಗವಾನ್ ವೈ ಪಿತಾಮಹಃ ಪ್ರತ್ಯುವಾಚ |

'Hearing those words of Devas who were greatly alarmed and were confounded by fear , Brahma the Lord of creation spoke as follows'.

ಯ ಸ್ಯೇಯಂ ವಸುಧಾ ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಾ ವಾಸುದೇವಸ್ಯ ಧೀಮತಃ |
ಕಾಪಿಲಂ ರೂಪ ಮಾಸ್ಥಾಯ ಧಾರಯತ್ಯನಿಶಂ ಧರಾಮ್ ||
ತಸ್ಯ ಕೋಪಾಗ್ನಿನಾ ದಗ್ಧಾ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಂತಿ ನೃಪಾತ್ಮಜಾಃ |||

ಸ|| ಯಸ್ಯ ಇಯಂ ವಸುಧಾ ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಾ (ಸ) ವಸುದೇವಸ್ಯ ಧೀಮತಃ ಕಾಪಿಲಂ ರೂಪಂ ಆಸ್ಥಾಯ ಅನಿಶಾಮ್ ಧರಾಂ ಧಾರಯತಿ | ಸ ನೃಪಾತ್ಮಜಾಃ ತಸ್ಯ ಕೋಪಾಗ್ನಿನಾ ಧಗ್ದಾ ಭವಿಷ್ಯಂತಿ |

"Vasudeva who is the protector of the whole world, is carrying the burden of this earth having taken the form of Kapila Maharshi . The sons of that king Sagara will die in the fire of anger of that great soul."

ಪೃಥಿವ್ಯಾಶ್ಚಾಪಿ ನಿರ್ಭೇಧೋ ದೃಷ್ಟ ಏವ ಸನಾತನಃ |
ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಚ ಪುತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ವಿನಾಶೋsದೀರ್ಘಜೀವಿನಾಮ್ ||

ಸ||ಪೃಥಿವ್ಯಾಶ್ಚ ನಿರ್ಭೇದಃ ಅಪಿ , ಅದೀರ್ಘಜೀವಿನಾಂ ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಪುತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ವಿನಾಶಃ ಅಪಿ ಸನಾತನಃ ದೃಷ್ಟ ಏವ |

"The instance of the earth being dug up and the destruction of sons of Sagara with limited life has already been foretold"

ಪಿತಾಮಹ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ತ್ರಯಸ್ತ್ರಿಂಶ ದರಿಂದಮ |
ದೇವಾಃ ಪರಮ ಸಂಹೃಷ್ಟಾಃ ಪುನರ್ಜಗ್ಮುರ್ಯಥಾಗತಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ತ್ರಯಸ್ತ್ರಿಂಶದ್ ಅರಿಂದಮಃ ದೇವಾಃ ಪಿತಾಮಹಸ್ಯ ವಚಃ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಯಥಾಗತಂ (ತಥಾ) ಪುನರ್ಜಗ್ಮುಃ |

'Hearing those words of the creator the thirty three Devas again went back in the same way they have come.'

ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಚ ಪುತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ಪ್ರಾದುರಾಸೀನ್ ಮಹತ್ಮನಾಮ್ |
ಪೃಥಿವ್ಯಾಂ ಭಿದ್ಯಮಾನಾಯಾಂ ನಿರ್ಘಾತ ಸಮನಿಸ್ವನಃ||

ಸ|| ಪೃಥಿವ್ಯಾಂ ಭಿದ್ಯಮಾನಾಯಾಂ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾಂ , ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಚ ಪುತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ನಿರ್ಘಾತ ಸಮನಿಸ್ವನಃ ಪ್ರಾದುರಾಸೀತ್ |

'The all powerful sons of Sagara who were digging up the earth came across a stunning sound".

ತತೋ ಭಿತ್ತ್ವಾ ಮಹೀಂ ಸರ್ವೇ ಕೃತ್ವಾಚಾಪಿ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಮ್ |
ಸಹಿತಾ ಸಾಗರಾ ಸ್ಸರ್ವೇ ಪಿತರಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಮಬ್ರುವನ್ ||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಮಹೀಂ ಭಿತ್ತ್ವಾ ಸರ್ವೇ ಚಾಪಿ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಸರ್ವೇ ಸಾಗರಾ ಸಹಿತಾ ಪಿತರಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಮಬ್ರುವನ್ |

'Then the sons of Sagara who went around the world digging up the earth told their father as follows'.

ಪರಿಕ್ರಾಂತಾ ಮಹೀ ಸರ್ವಾ ಸತ್ತ್ವವಂತಶ್ಚ ಸೂದಿತಾಃ |
ದೇವದಾನವ ರಕ್ಷಾಂಸಿ ಪಿಶಾಚೋರಗ ಕಿನ್ನರಾಃ ||
ನ ಚ ಪಶ್ಯಾಮಹೇ ಅಶ್ವಂ ತಂ ಅಶ್ವಹರ್ತಾರಂ ಏವ ಚ |
ಕಿಂ ಕರಿಷ್ಯಾಮ ಭದ್ರಂ ತೇ ಬುದ್ಧಿರತ್ರ ವಿಚಾರ್ಯತಾಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ಮಹೀ ಸರ್ವಾ ಪರಿಕ್ರಾಂತಾ , ದೇವದಾನವ , ರಕ್ಷಾಂಸಿ , ಪಿಶಾಚೋರಗ ಕಿನ್ನರಾಃ ಸತ್ತ್ವವಂತಶ್ಚ ಸರ್ವಾ ಸೂದಿತಾಃ| ( ವಯಂ) ಅಶ್ವಂ ನ ಪಶ್ಯಾಮಹೇ , ತಂ ಅಶ್ವಹರ್ತಾರಂ ಏವ ಚ ( ನ ಪಶ್ಯಾಮಹೇ) . ಕಿಂ ಕರಿಷ್ಯಾಮ . ಅತ್ರ ಬುದ್ಧಿಃ ವಿಚಾರ್ಯತಾಮ್. ತೇ ಭದ್ರಮ್ ( ಅಸ್ತು).

" Oh Father! We searched all over the earth . We destroyed the Devas, Rakshasas, Pisacha's, Naga's, Kinnara's and other living beings. We could not find neither the sacrificial horse nor the one who stole that horse. You should think about what we should be doing. May you be safe ".

ತೇಷಾಂ ತದ್ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ರಾಜಸತ್ತಮಃ |
ಸಮನ್ಯುರಬ್ರವೀದ್ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಸಗರೋ ರಘುನಂದನ ||

ಸ|| (ಹೇ) ರಘುನಂದನ ! ತತ್ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ರಾಜಸತ್ತಮಃ ಸಮನ್ಯುಃ ಸಗರೋ ಪುತ್ರಾಣಾಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ |

' Oh Raghunandana ! Sagara the best of kings , having heard their words and thinking of the same spoke to his sons'.

ಭೂಯಃ ಖನತ ಭದ್ರಂ ವೋ ನಿರ್ಭಿಧ್ಯ ವಸುಧಾತಲಮ್ |
ಅಶ್ವಹರ್ತಾರ ಮಾಸಾದ್ಯ ಕೃತಾರ್ಥಾಶ್ಚ ವಿವರ್ತಥ ||

ಸ|| ಭೂಯಃ ಖನತ | ಭದ್ರಂ ವೋ | ವಸುಧಾತಲಮ್ ನಿರ್ಭಿಧ್ಯ ಅಶ್ವ ಹರ್ತಾರಂ ಆಸಾದ್ಯ ಚ ಕೃತಾರ್ಥಾಃ ವಿವರ್ತಥ |

"You may dig again. May you be successful. Dig up the whole earth capture the one who stole the sacrificial horse and having succeeded return home".

ಪಿತುರ್ವಚನಮಾಸಾದ್ಯ ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ |
ಷಷ್ಟಿಃ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ರಸಾತಲ ಮಭಿದ್ರವನ್ ||

ಸ|| ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಷಷ್ಟಿ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಃ ಪಿತುಃ ವಚನಂ ಆಸಾದ್ಯ ರಸಾತಲಂ ಅಭಿದ್ರವನ್ |

'Those all powerful sixty thousand sons of Sagara having heard their father's words went on digging reaching the nether world'.

ಖನ್ಯಮಾನೇ ತತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ದದೃಶುಃ ಪರ್ವತೋಪಮಮ್ |
ದಿಶಾಗಜಂ ವಿರೂಪಾಕ್ಷಂ ಧಾರಯಂತಂ ಮಹೀತಲಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಖನ್ಯಮಾನೇ ( ತೇ) ಪರವತೋಪಮಂ , ಮಹೀತಲಂ ಧಾರಯಂತಂ , ದಿಶಾಗಜಂ , ವಿರೂಪಾಕ್ಷಂ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ದದೃಶುಃ |

'The sons of Sagara who were digging thus , saw a great elephant by name Virupaksha'.

ಸಪರ್ವತವನಾಂ ಕೃತ್ಸ್ನಾಂ ಪೃಥಿವೀಂ ರಘುನಂದನ |
ಶಿರಸಾ ಧಾರಯಾಮಾಸ ವಿರೂಪಾಕ್ಷೋ ಮಹಾಗಜಃ ||
ಯಥಾ ಪರ್ವಣಿ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥ ವಿಶ್ರಮಾರ್ಥಂ ಮಹಾಗಜಃ |
ಖೇದಾಚ್ಛಾಲಯತೇ ಶೀರ್ಷಂ ಭೂಮಿಕಂಪಸ್ತದಾ ಭವೇತ್ ||

ಸ|| (ಹೇ) ರಘುನಂದನ ! ವಿರೂಪಾಕ್ಷೋ ಮಹಾಗಜಃ ಸಪರ್ವತ ವನಾಂ ಕೃತ್ಸಾನಾಂ ಪೃಥಿವೀಂ ಶಿರಸಾ ಧಾರಯಾಮಾಸ |(ಹೇ) ಕಾಕುತ್ಸ್ಥಾ ! ಯಥಾ (ಸ) ಮಹಾಗಜಃ ಪರ್ವಣಿ ವಿಶ್ರಮಾರ್ಥಂ ಶೀರ್ಷಂ ಖೇದಾಚ್ಚಾಲಯತೇ ತದಾ ಭೂಮಿಕಂಪಃ ಭವೇತ್ |

' Oh Raghunandana ! That great elephant by name Virupaksha was carrrying the earth with all its forests and mountains. Oh Rama ! on special days when the the great elephant moved its head for resting the same, the whole earth shaked"

ತಂ ತೇ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ದಿಶಾಪಾಲಂ ಮಹಾಗಜಮ್ |
ಮಾನಯಂ ತೋ ಹಿ ತೇ ರಾಮ ಜಗ್ಮುರ್ಭಿತ್ಯಾರಸಾತಲಮ್ ||
ತತಃ ಪೂರ್ವಾಂ ದಿಶಂ ಭಿತ್ವಾ ದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಭಿಭಿದುಃ ಪುನಃ |
ದಕ್ಷಿಣಸ್ಯಾಮಪಿ ದಿಶಿ ದದೃಶುಸ್ತೇ ಮಹಾಗಜಮ್ ||
ಮಹಾಪದ್ಮಂ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾನಂ ಸುಮಹತ್ ಪರ್ವತೋಪಮಮ್ |
ಶಿರಸಾ ಧಾರಯಂತಂ ತೇ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಂ ಜಗ್ಮುರುತ್ತಮಮ್ ||

ಸ|| (ಹೇ) ರಾಮ ! ತೇ ತಂ ಮಹಾಗಜಂ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣೀ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ರಸಾತಲಂ ಆನಯಂತೋ ಹಿ ದಿಶಾಪಾಲಂ ಜಗ್ಮುಃ | ತತಃ ಪೂರ್ವಾಂ ದಿಶಂ ಭಿತ್ವಾ , ದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಪುನಃ ಬಿಭಿದುಃ | ದಿಶಿ ದಕ್ಷಿಣಸ್ಯಾಂ ಅಪಿ ತೇ ಮಹಾಗಜಂ ದದೃಶುಃ |ಶಿರಸಾ ಧಾರಯಂತಂ ಸುಮಹತ್ ಪರ್ವತೋಪಮಮ್ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾನಂ ಮಹಾಪದ್ಮಂ ( ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ) ತೇ ಉತ್ತಮಂ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಂ ಜಗ್ಮುಃ |

' Oh Rama ! They cirumbulated the great elephant , and then they went on digging towards the nether world. They dug towards east , they then dug up the earth in the southern direction. In the southern direction also they saw a great elephant. Seeing the powerful and great elephant by name Mahapadmam , which is equal in size to a mountain, they were all wonder struck'.

ತತಃ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ |
ಷಷ್ಟಿಃ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮಾಂ ಭಿಭಿದುರ್ದಿಶಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಸಗರಸ್ಯ ಷಷ್ಟಿಃ ಪುತ್ತ್ರಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ (ತಂ) ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮಾಂ ದಿಶಂ ಭಿಭಿದುಃ |

'The powerful sixty thousand sons of Sagar, then circumbulated that great elephant and started digging in the westerly direction'.

ಪಶ್ಚಿಮಾಯಾಮಪಿ ದಿಶಿ ಮಹಾಂತ ಮಚಲೋಪಮಮ್ |
ದಿಶಾಗಜಂ ಸೌಮನಸಂ ದದೃಶುಸ್ತೇ ಮಹಾಬಲಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ತೇ ಮಹಬಲಾಃ ದಿಶಿ ಪಶ್ಚಿಮಾಯಾಂ ಅಪಿ ಮಹಂತಂ ಅಚಲೋಪಮಮ್ ಸೌಮನಸಂ ದಿಶಾಗಜಂ ದದೃಶುಃ |

'Then those powerful ones saw the great elephant by name Saumanasa which is equal in size to that of a mountain'.

ತಂ ತೇ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಪೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಚಾಪಿ ನಿರಾಮಯಮ್ |
ಖನಂತ ಸ್ಸಮುಪಕ್ರಾಂತಾ ದಿಶಂ ಹೈಮವತೀಂ ತತಃ ||

ಸ|| ತೇ ತಮ್ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ನಿರಾಮಯಂ ಪೃಷ್ಠ್ವಾ ಅಪಿ ತತಃ ಹೈಮವತೀಂ ದಿಶಂ ಖನಂತಃ ಸಮುಪಕ್ರಾಂತಾ |

'They paid obeisance to her there after enquired after her welfare and then started digging the direction of north'.

ಉತ್ತರಶ್ಯಾಂ ರಘುಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ದದೃಶುರ್ಹಿಮಪಾಂಡರಮ್ |
ಭದ್ರಂ ಭದ್ರೇಣ ವಪುಷಾ ಧಾರಯಂತಂ ಮಹೀಮಿಮಾಮ್ ||

ಸ|| (ಹೇ ) ರಘು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ! ಉತ್ತರಸ್ಯಾಂ ( ದಿಶಿ) ಇಮಾಮ್ ಮಹೀಂ ವಪುಷಾಂ ಭದ್ರಂ ಭದ್ರೇಣ ಧಾರಯಂತಂ ಹಿಮ ಪಾಣ್ಡುರಂ ದದೃಶುಃ |

'Oh Best of Raghus ! In the northern direction too they saw an elephant , white like snow , bearing the burden of earth in a careful manner.'

ಸಮಾಲಭ್ಯ ತತಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಚೈನಂ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಮ್ |
ಷಷ್ಟಿಃ ಪುತ್ತ್ರ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ಭಿಭಿದು ರ್ವಸುಧಾತಲಮ್ |

ಸ|| ಏನಂ ಸರ್ವೇ ಸಮಾಲಭ್ಯ ಪ್ರದಕ್ಷಿಣಂ ಚ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಷಷ್ಟಿಃ ಪುತ್ತ್ರ ಸಹಸ್ರಾಣಿ ವಸುಧಾತಲಂ ಭಿಭಿದು |

'They then touched the same and having circumbulated they again continued digging up the earth'.

ತತಃ ಪ್ರಾಗುತ್ತರಾಂ ಗತ್ವಾ ಸಾಗರಾಃ ಪ್ರಥಿತಾಂ ದಿಶಮ್ |
ರೋಷಾದಭ್ಯಖನನ್ ಸರ್ವೇ ಪೃಥಿವೀಂ ಸಗರಾತ್ಮಜಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ಸಗರಾತ್ಮಜಾಃ ರೋಷಾತ್ ಪ್ರಧಿತಾಂ ಪ್ರಾಗುತ್ತರಾಂ ದಿಶಮ್ ಗತ್ವಾ ಅಭ್ಯಖನನ್ |

'The sons of Sagara full of anger then started to dig in the well known northeasterly direction'.

ತೇ ತು ಸರ್ವೇ ಮಹಾತ್ಮಾನೋ ಭೀಮವೇಗಾ ಮಹಾಬಲಾಃ |
ದದೃಶುಃ ಕಪಿಲಂ ತತ್ರ ವಾಸುದೇವಂ ಸನಾತನಮ್ ||

ಸ|| ತೇ ಸರ್ವೇ ಮಾಹಾತ್ಮನಃ ಭೀಮವೇಗಾಃ ಮಹಬಲಾಃ ತತ್ರ ಸನಾತನಮ್ ವಾಸುದೇವಂ ಕಪಿಲಮ್ ದದೃಶುಃ |

'There the all powerful and great ones who are capable of moving at great speeds saw Kapila Maharshi who is an incarnation of SriVishnu'.

ಹಯಂ ಚ ತಸ್ಯ ದೇವಸ್ಯ ಚರಂತಂ ಅವಿದೂರತಃ |
ಪ್ರಹರ್ಷಮತುಲಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ ಸರ್ವೇ ತೇ ರಘುನಂದನ |

ಸ|| ಹೇ! ರಘುನಂದನ ! ತಸ್ಯ ದೇವಸ್ಯ ಅವಿದೂರತಃ ಚರಂತಮ್ ಹಯಂ ( ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ) ಅತುಲಂ ಪ್ರಹರ್ಷಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾಃ |

'Oh Raghunandana ! They also saw a horse walking nearby that venerable sage and were happy'.

ತೇ ತಂ ಹಯಹರಂ ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾ ಕ್ರೋಧಪರ್ಯಾಕುಲೇಕ್ಷಣಾಃ ||
ಖನಿತ್ರ ಲಾಂಗಲಧರಾ ನಾನಾವೃಕ್ಷಶಿಲಾಧರಾಃ |
ಅಭ್ಯಧಾವಂತ ಸಂಕ್ರುದ್ಧಾಃ ತಿಷ್ಠ ತಿಷ್ಠೇತಿ ಚಾಬ್ರುವನ್ ||

ಸ|| ತೇ ತಂ ಹಯಹರಂ ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾ ಕ್ರೋಥ ಪರ್ಯಾಕುಲೇಕ್ಷಣಃ ಸಂಕ್ರುದ್ಧಾಃ ನಾನಾವೃಕ್ಷಶಿಲಾಧರಾಃ ಖನಿತ್ರ ಲಾಂಗಲಧರಾಃ ತಿಷ್ಠ ತಿಷ್ಠ ಇತಿ ಆಬ್ರುವನ್ ಅಭ್ಯಧಾವಂತ |

'Thinking that he is the one who stole the sacrificial horse they became angry . They ran after him with trees stones and other weapons shouting " stop" , "stop"'.

ಅಸ್ಮಾಕಂ ತ್ವಂ ಹಿ ತುರಗಂ ಯಜ್ಞೀಯಂ ಹೃತವಾನಪಿ |
ದುರ್ಮೇಧಸ್ತ್ವಂ ಹಿ ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಾನ್ ವಿದ್ಧಿ ನ ಸ್ಸಗರಾತ್ಮಜಾನ್ ||

ಸ|| (ಹೇ) ದುರ್ಮೇಧಃ ! ಅಸ್ಮಾಕಂ ಯಜ್ಞೀಯಂ ತುರಗಂ ತ್ವಂ ಹಿ ಹೃತವಾನಪಿ ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತವಾನ್ ! ನಃ ಸಗರಾತ್ಮಜಾನ್ ವಿದ್ಧಿ !

" Oh Ill-mannered one ! You have stolen our sacrficial horse and brought the same, Know that we are the sons of sagara "

ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ತು ವಚನಂ ತೇಷಾಂ ಕಪಿಲೋ ರಘುನಂದನ |
ರೋಷೇಣ ಮಹತಾss ವಿಷ್ಟೋ ಹುಂಕಾರಮಕರೋತ್ ತದಾ ||
ಸ|| (ಹೇ) ರಘುನಂದನ ! ತೇಷಾಂ ವಚನಮ್ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ತದಾ ಕಪಿಲಃ ರೋಷೇಣ ಮಹತಾ ಹೂಂಕಾರಂ ಅಕರೋತ್ |

'Oh Ragunandana ! the Kapila Maharshi having heard their words uttered "Hum" with anger'.

ತತಸ್ತೇನಾಪ್ರಮೇಯೇಣ ಕಪಿಲೇನ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ |
ಭಸ್ಮರಾಶೀಕೃತಾ ಸ್ಸರ್ವೇ ಕಾಕುತ್ ಸ್ಥ ಸಗರಾತ್ಮಜಾಃ ||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ಕಕುತ್ಸ್ಥಾ ! ತತಃ ಸ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಾ ಕಪಿಲೇನ ಅಪ್ರಮೇಯೇಣ ಸರ್ವೇ ಸಗರಾತ್ಮಜಾಃ ಭಸ್ಮರಾಶೀಕೃತಾ: |

' Oh Scion of Kakutstha ! the sons of Sagara were turned into a heap of ashes by that venerable sage Kapila'.

ಇತ್ಯಾರ್ಷೇ ಶ್ರೀಮದ್ರಾಮಾಯಣೇ ವಾಲ್ಮೀಕೀಯೇ ಆದಿಕಾವ್ಯೇ ಬಾಲಕಾಂಡೇ ಚತುರ್ವಿಂಶಸ್ಸರ್ಗಃ ||
